We have a girls and boys team, and they are looking forward to playing in the mixed football festival in the summer term. Our girls team represented Clifton at the football tournament in the Autumn term, as will the boys on the 29th of January.

Sports Day 2023 #TEAM# Together Everyone Achieves More

Monday 10th July was an active day, as we held our annual Sports Day. We had very lucky weather, with the rain coming right at the end of the day! All children, across all teams, got to take part in a variety of sporting activities; ranging from high jump, standing long jump, javelin, archery to obstacle races and sprints.

It was a fantastic day, with the children performing brilliantly.

They displayed determination, perseverance and a great amount of effort.

The results were as follows:

Overall results:

Well done to Yellow House, who managed a clean sweep of the winning trophy!

Thank you to all the staff (and Onside) who helped, the parents for attending and children for performing to the best of their ability. The school would also like to thank our Year 6 helpers (house captains and active ambassadors, for scoring the events throughout the day even as they were participating!

Teams were awarded points on where they finished the races (10 points for 1st, 7 for 2nd, 5 for 3rd and 1 for participating. Each teams total was then combined with the rest of their houses score to form an overall total.

PE Sporting Achievements 2022-2023

Some of our pupils have excelled in sports competitions recently!

We had a small group from Year 3 and 4 who represented the school brilliantly at the Tag Rugby tournament at Newbold Rugby Club on Monday 28th November in the autumn term.

They went on again in the early in the spring term to give another strong show of teamwork and camaraderie in the Rugby Festival, winning some games in the four rounds.

Level 2 School Games Virtual  Infant  Agility  Competition.

Last term Year 2 and Year 1 enjoyed participating in the Virtual Infant Agility Competition, which is an event run as an intra-school competition. The whole class participated and the top 10 scorers (top 5 boys’ and top 5 girls’ scores) were taken and submitted as a team entry
Events included Standing Long Jump (Jumper); Bean Bag targets (Pitcher); Running (Runner); Speed bounce (bouncer); Agility Run (Stepper); Chest Throw (Thrower).

Swimming Gala

Well done to all our Year 5 and 6 swimmers for competing in the swimming gala.

They were all-brilliant and showed excellent teamwork and skill. Congratulations!

Rugby Primary Schools Cross Country Championships

Record numbers of children have taken part, with around 200 for each event, an amazing turnout despite the weather with heavy downpour; it was down to the fantastic support from schools, parents, Onside Coaching, Rugby & Northampton Athletics Club and Gwil Price, who has set up every course.

We are very proud of the Clifton children in Year 5 and Year 6 who represented our school at this competition. Robert, Rory, Bella and Bobbie all gave an outstanding performance in the heats.

With the finals on Saturday 25th of March, we wished Bella and Robert all the best!

Bella and Robert went on to do an amazing job, and giving it their very best at the Cross Country Finals

Girls Football Message

We want girls to play football!
It is time to take a stand, to make a difference.
Girls are an unstoppable force for good if given the chance.

The chance to play football.

They want to play in the school curriculum, at break time, after school, at local clubs – wherever, whenever they want. No barriers, no stereotypes. Let Girls Play.
We cannot achieve this on our own though! We would not be able to do this without the support of Barclays and their passion for equal access, and now we need you too!

So, at Clifton we will joined in at playtime and PE lessons

A campaign to drive influence and change perceptions, showing that football can and should be played by girls. We are championing equal access for girls, helping create independent, resilient young girls who will be a force for good in our local community.
Clifton now have their very own girls’ football team! They will be representing our school at the girls’ football festival (Years 5/6 girls) on Monday the 20th of March at Binley Woods Primary school and again in the Summer term.
